"Super" Lee Tindall

We'll never forget you bro!

*********************************************************************

From Henry Tindall (Lee's "Pop")

To my extended family:
I plan to express my thanks to all of you at a later
date, when I can gather my thoughts a little better,
but, this, I want to share with you now. On Saturday
morning, last, at St Paul United Methodist Church in
St Matthews, SC, one of the strongest young women I
have ever known, rose and walked to the pulpit. When
she finished what she had to say, her father was more
proud of her than he had ever been. This is what she
said:

"Thank you all for being here to support our family
and celebrate the life of my brother. For those of you
who don't know me, I'm Lee's sister, Deborah. Or as
Lee said, "The other one, not my twin, the other one".
Most of you knew my brother well, so this will be a
trip down memory lane. But for the rest of you, let me
tell you a little bit about bruthaLee.

Lee Tindall was a passionate man. He was passionate
about books. He loved libraries. He was a voracious
reader. Sometimes he'd be reading 2 or 3 books at the
same time. He introduced me to the Ferrol Sams Series
and he loved Larry McMurtry. But he would read
anything. I think he got his love for the written word
from his grandmothers.

He was passionate about music. His tastes were
ecclectic to say the least. He try anything once! His
favorite musician, other than some folks here today,
was James McMurtry. I got to go to my first McMurtry
show back in March with bruthaLee, and it was a REAL
experience. If any of ya'll have ever seen Lee dance,
you know what I'm talking about. A friend and I tried
to find a good song lyric to quote today, but his
favorites don't seem to apply. Too Long in the
Wasteland and No More Buffalo don't seem to fit.

Lee was passionate about movies. There are so many he
enjoyed. Two come to mind automatically. Slingblade
with Billy Bob Thornton.."Mm Hmm. I like the way you
talk" And The Shawshank Redemption. He used to sign
his emails with a quote from that one.."Get busy
livin, or get busy dyin." I think LeeSam was really
terrific at the get busy livin part. He lived more in
his 35 years than a lot of folks do in 100 years here
on earth.

He was passionate about Edisto. I think that was the
one place he could really relax. And sometime in the
near future, his ashes will be spread there. He'll be
HOME.

Most of all, Lee was passionate about the people that
he loved. When he loved, he loved completely, with
every part of his heart and with every fiber of his
being. His friends, Michael, James and his other
brother Michael. His 116 family- Larry, Darrin,
Stroker and the rest. His St Matthews family-Pastor
James, Mickey, Lawrence, David, Billy. His extended
family- the "Yankee Tindalls", Tom, Jeff & MeMe. Jo,
Bob and Will. Aunt Anne and Aunt Frances. Ellison,
Mary Bryce, Tom and Tom's little brother. His
Grandmother Ebbie. But most of all, Liam and Sam.
They were his heart. He loved them more than life.
His beloved "womb"mate Louisa. Mama and Daddy.

My best friend is gone. There are more than a few of
you here today that are saying the very same thing.
Than was Lee. When he was with you, he made you feel
like the most important person in the world. He was
kind, sweet, funny, smart and generous to a fault. He
would do anything for you and expect nothing in
return.

In closing, I'd like to address the "what if" factor.
A lot of us have been asking ourselves that in the
last few days. "What if I had called him? What if I
had said what was in my heart the last time I saw
him?" "What if I could've prevented this?" The last cd
I sent to bruthaLee had a song by Warren Zevon. This
is the line I think Lee would want us all to know:
If I leave you it doesn't mean I love you any less.
Keep me in your heart for a while.

There is no blame here. Each of us need to remember
that. Lee is at Peace.

Every one of us is different because our lives were
touched by him. We will miss him forever.

I am proud to be his sister."

A teammate, friend, and dear friend to Lee...had this statement as a quote on his signature today.

Thank you Darrin!

"is it hard to balance Joy and sorrow??....
one lifts, the other pulls down.... sorrow comes from the loss of
Joy, and if that Joy is not forgotten, the Joy is not lost...and the
sorrow will never over balance the Joy"

Lee brought so much joy into our lives...that joy had been taking a back seat to sorrow until I read that...and realized that the joy of having known him is impossible for any of us forget.

Lee S. Tindall

Fondly Remembered

Lee Tindall 1970-2005

A gentleman, a racer, a poet, a friend, a brother and most of all a father.
Lee left us on May 4th 2005 and we are all poorer for this loss.
Lee’s smile and wit came across in every post he made to the many online boards
he frequented.
He would talk politics, racing, music or life in general with his horde of
online friends.
Those who knew him only as Lee in SC, knew the real Lee, or most of him.
He was much more radiant in person. His ready smile would light up a room.
He caused people to laugh, with him.
Some of his friends gathered this past weekend to celebrate the marriage of two
of our group.
Some of us gathered after the ceremony and looked at photos, drank some beer,
and played his music.
For a time, Lee was with us, again. I remembered his tag line…..
Get busy livin’, or get busy dyin’
Lee lives on in each of us, as long as we hold his memory.
I will miss his physical presence, but, he’ll always be here.
Ride free bro

(By Ann Ryan)

A tear fell...
flooding the heart with sorrow...
the raging swales of torment
too great to bear the 'morrow.

Those of us who love you
and care...
ask ourselves why...
we didn't know or feel your despair.

Rest well dear friend...
Your time with us well spent...
Our prayers are with you
tucked in angels wings...heaven sent!
